Always remember that this is a real time game, and your opponent has to not only in theory protect his pieces, but he actually has to react in time to make the moves. Just because you can dodge a piece, doesn't mean you will. In this case white creates a diversion on the other side of the board, drawing black's attention (and his physical mouse cursor) to the king side, all the while assassinating the exposed king with his knight.
